The Celebrations in the month of May continue. This Sunday Courtney, Logan, and Aria
(Melody) will confirm their faith. During the service we ask that the Holy Spirit will be poured
out upon them granting courage, wisdom, counsel and fortitude. I truly enjoyed my time with
them. They are wonderfully supportive of one another. You will hear that in the essays they
will personally share during the service. You will also hear their appreciation for the support of
the congregation.
They continue their faith journey by volunteering. Logan will be a worship assistant, and
Melody and Courtney will assist with the Sunday children’s time.
Normally we would have our bishop, Dave Nagler here to play a part but schedules did not
work out. Happily, he will be here on June 7 to celebrate those graduating from High School
and greeting our confirmation students as well.
Their step of faith reminds us that all of life is in motion. We are constantly being called to
move forward in faith.
Connie and I will be in Palo Alto, CA with our granddaughter, Lily, next week so I have doubled
up the Weekly Message. My daughter sends videos and calls us on Facetime, but we are
looking forward to seeing Lily in person. We can see our grandson, Blake, more often as he is
just an hour away. We stopped by last Friday.
During these early years they change each week. So checking in often is filled with ever new
discoveries. From Lily saying: “Happy Mother’s Day” to Blake’s laughing and running as his
mother sprinkles him with the hose.
I like to think I am not changing too much. When I visit Planet Fitness, I like to use the same
amount of weight each time. Holding my own is a victory. The youths around me, who check
out their physique in the multitude of mirrors, are not satisfied with status quo.
As our confirmation students move on in their faith and as our High School graduates turn the
page on a new chapter in their lives it is great to see that their connection with Faith endures.
Charlotte Beal, for example, is back with us for the summer. Rachael leads our children’s time.
Benet brought his grandmother Eloise to church last Sunday.
Through every phase of life, our faith can be a sure rock on which to build a life.
PRAYER
Holy Spirit, renew all of us in our faith as we journey through life. Strengthen what is weak,
purify what is unclear and awaken our courage. Make us faithful in small things, courageous in
trials and joyful in service. May our lives bear witness to Jesus our Lord.
Grace and Peace,
Pastor John Bunge
